Stoner Streams: November 2023

As spooky season comes to an end – and those beautiful fall leaves slowly turn into ice and snow – there’s no better way to stay warm than cuddling under some blankets, lighting one up, and streaming some shows. With that in mind, here are your November Stoner Streams!

SOUTH PARK: JOINING THE PANDERVERSE

Less of a movie and more of a television special episode, South Park: Joining the Panderverse has been blowing up online for the show's take on the current landscape of societal nonsense and awful cinema. Taking shots at Disney, Kathleen Kennedy, the politically correct “woke”, and outraged incels, Joining the Panderverse is a triumphant return to form for the South Park series. Cartman, Kenny, Stan, and Kyle find themselves in a multiversal struggle and are swapped-out for a more diverse cast of characters to say the least. South Park: Joining the Panderverse is available to stream on Paramount+ and is the funniest thing you’ll watch all month.

OLD

Now I know what you’re thinking: “Halloween is over, enough with the horror films!” But I like to use November as a psychological thriller month as a transition off of the scary flicks before I overload on Christmas movies. I know it doesn’t make sense, but neither do most M. Night Shyamalan movies, and for some reason we can’t help but tune in. Old is Shyamalan’s second last picture, with Knock At The Cabin coming out this year – which I suggest you go and watch too – and both are epicly twisted movies. Old is a thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly, reducing their entire lives into a single day. The movie sounds trippy, and horrific, and hilarious, and it is all of those things, I assure you. Old is on Netflix in Canada on November 1st.

RALPH BARBOSA: COWABUNGA

I always try to include one comedy special in every edition of Stoner Streams because weed and laughs go together like peanut butter and jelly. Ralph Barbosa is one of the fastest rising and funniest stand up comedians in the game right now, and his most recent special Cowabunga is the culmination of his newfound popularity. Aside from beefing with veteran comedian George Lopez, Ralph Barbosa has also had a handful of stand up clips go viral in the last couple of years. Barbosa covers down-to-earth topics like being a 26-year-old gamer, growing up with his grandparents and running a hair cutting business out of his bedroom as a teenager. Ralph Barbosa: Cowabunga is available to stream on Netflix Halloween night.

LOVE ISLAND GAMES

Some people may think reality shows are lame, but if you’ve never watched one of these shows baked as a cake with friends or a significant other, then you’re really missing out. Speaking of reality television, Love Island is one of the most popular shows in the genre, and Love Island Games is a spinoff of that. Debuting November 1st on Crave in Canada and Peacock in America, Love Island Games gives contestants from previous seasons of the show a second shot at love. Past Love Island participants from all over the world look for love as they compete in a brand-new format to be crowned the Love Island Games Champion. It’s a cheeky new iteration of the original series, and islanders are faced with both team and couples’ challenges, all while navigating dating, eliminations, and drama along the way.

INVINCIBLE (SEASON 2)

The long awaited second season of Robert Kirkman’s comic book turned animated series Invincible finally drops November 3rd on Amazon Prime Canada. Now is the perfect time to go back and binge watch the first season of Invincible, which is a series that follows a young superhero called Invincible, who lives in a world filled with other super people and creatures. Invincible’s father, Omni-Man, is a corrupted hero gone mad and the two duke it out throughout the first season of the series. Season two picks up where the last one left off, and this adult-themed and violent animated series is one of the most underrated shows in years.
